After winning against the 5-peat champions, the NU Bulldogs lost to another champion team, UE Red Warriors. The Red Warriors were declared Filoil Champs last summer.
With 1:12 left in the clock, both teams are tied at 67. UE Coach Boycie Zamar entrusted their last play to 5-foot-8 player Roi Sumang. After milking the clock, Sumang took a 3-point dagger and was fouled by two-time MVP Bobby Parks. He went on to complete his four-point play with less than 4 seconds left in the clock.
Almost all of the UAAP coaches tagged NU Bulldogs as the top contender for this season.
